Zambia 2017: Black Satellites March on at the Expense of Junior Walias

The Ethiopian U-20 national side failed to seal a spot at the ultimate qualifying round after suffering a heavy defeat at the hands of the Ghana U-20 team in the African U-20 Nations Cup qualifier in Cape Coast.

The Junior Walias took a 2-1 score line on aggregate to West Ghana but it only took the Ghanaians 9 minutes to turn the table around and win the duel 4-0.

At the newly built 16,000 seater Cape Coast Stadium, the visiting Ethiopia found themselves two goals down nine minutes after the onset. Yaw Yeboah and Asante Kotoko wonder kid Dauda Mohammed gave the Black Satellites the edge. Evans Mensah extended the lead to three in the second half before Yeboah completed his brace.

Ethiopia’s quest to a continental youth tourney has now gone. The last  time that Ethiopia participated in a African Youth Championship was in 2001 when they hosted the Cup at home soil.
