Premier League: Wolaitta Dicha and Mekelakeya Share Spoils

Wolaitta Dicha goalie Wendesen Ashenafi has finally conceded a goal after keeping clean sheets in his last nine games when Dicha played out a 1 all draw with Addis Ababa outfit Mekelakeya. The Army side fought back to earn a vital draw away at Boditi.

Dicha hosted Mekelakeya is a thrilling game in the Ethiopian Premier League Round 23 opening fixture. It took Dicha 18 minutes to break the deadlock. Bedelu Merid’s free kick was handled by Mekelakeya center back Tewodros Bekele inside area. Dicha’s talisman Alazar Fasika successfully converted the spot kick to hand the home side the lead. Mekelakeya pushed for an equalizer and got awarded through Tewodros in the 38th minute who headed a home a corner.

Tedworos is the first player to score a goal against Dicha’s custodian Wendesen Ashenafi after the later kept clean sheet since the second round commenced.

Wendesen set the league clean sheet record for Ethiopian goal keeper by not conceding 930 minutes. The league record for most consecutive clean sheets is at the hand of Ugandan international Robert Odongkara.

The draw leaves Dicha fourth with 34 points while Mekelakeya are eighth having collected 30 points.
