Dedebit, Adama Ketema, Mekelakeya Make Winning Ways

The 2016/17 Ethiopian Premier League 7 week 8 games were played across the country as Dedebit and Adama Ketema stretch their lead at the top. The 2017 Total CAF Confederation Cup Ethiopian flag bearers Mekelakeya continued on their impressive form after beating rookies Addis Ababa Ketema. The Sidama Derby between Sidama Bunna and Hawassa Ketema ended 3-1 in favor of the Yirgalem outfit.

A brace from the on fire Getaneh Kebede lifted Dedebit over Ethiopia Nigd Bank in match played at the Addis Ababa. The Blues registered a much needed victory against the Bankers defeating them 2-1. Addisu Seifu scored a direct free kick to halve the score in the second half before Getaneh handed Dedebit a two goals cushion in the first interval.

A dominant Adama Ketema were too good for Jimma Aba Bunna in the Oromia Derby as they beat the Jimma club 1-0. Dawa Hottesa struck the solitary goal with a beautiful free kick in the 76th minute.

Sidama Bunna emerged victorious of the Sidama Derby. They comfortably have beaten Hawassa Ketema 3-1 in Yirgalem. Bereket Addisu gave Sidama the lead in the 9th minute. Fitsum Teferi doubled the lead in the 61st minute. Addis Gidey put the final nail to the coffin with a great finish. Togolese forward Arafat Djako struck the conciliation for Hawassa in the stoppage minute.

ArbaMinch Ketema recorded their first away victory of the season with a 1-0 win over Dire Dawa Ketema. Captain Amanuel Gobena struck the winner in te dying moments of the game as he hands the Crocodiles maximum points.

Wolaitta Dicha squeezed past Woldia 1-0 courtesy of Mesay Achiso’s spot kick two minutes before the half hour mark. Fasil Ketema were held to a goalless draw by Ethio-Electric. Elsewhere, Mekelakeya came from behind to pip Addis Ababa Ketema 2-1. Haile Eshetu gave the capital city club the lead barely following the kick off. Samuel Taye restored parity in the 40th minute. Minyelu Wendimu struck the winner in the second interval after a good delivery by the inform Tewodros Bekele.

Dedebit and Adama Ketema top the log standing with 17 points.
