Hawassa Ketema Defeated Sidama Bunna to the U-17 Premier League Triumph

Hawassa Ketema have been crowned champions of the 2015/16 season Ethiopian U-17 premier league after a 3-1 win over local rivals Sidama Bunna in Adama. Adama Ketema overcome Mekelakeya on the same score line as they settle for third.

Wendemeagen Tadesse bagged a brace before Isarel Eshetu wrapped up the score for Hawassa to hand a maiden league title. Abenezer Asfaw got the conciliation for Sidama.

Goals from Issa Nigusse (2) and Yehuwalashete Fikadu gave Adama Ketema a 3-1 win over Mekelakeya in the third place playoffs. Abel Negash struck for the Army side.

Mekelakeya’s forward Yohannis Dereje took home the Most Valuable Player award and 5000 Birr prize money. The young prodigy has also bagged five goals in the tourney which made him joint top goal king alongside Adama Ketema’s Issa Nigusse. The Federation have also recognized top goal scorers who topped their respective zones. Wendemeagen Tadesse (Hawassa) and Yehuwalashet Fikadu (Adama) were the top goal scorers from the South East Zone with 4 goals whereas Harar City’s Tadios Adugna won the top goal scorer award from the Central Zone with 16 goals.

Hawassa Ketema duo Alazar Merehe and Temesgen Dana notched the goal keeper and coach of the year award respectively. The fair play award went to Mekelakeya.
