Kidus Giorgis swept Mekelakeya aside 2-0 in the Ethiopian Premier League remaining game earlier today in Addis Ababa, as they extend their lead in the log table. Beahilu Assefa and Mentesnot Adane struck for the Horsemen in each half.
Behailu gave Giorgis the lead in the 13th minute through a superb finish. Mekelakeya custodian Jamal Tassew left his line as he tried to deny Behailu in which the winger sent the ball over the goalie to open the scoring. Mekelakeya had their chances to level matters through Baye Gezaghen before the interval.
Giorgis right back Alula Girma was taken off after sustaining an injury in the dying minutes of the first half.
Mentesenot doubled the lead in the 72nd minute as he turned in a Ramkel Lok header from close range. Shortly after the second goal Adane Girma hits the crossbar with a lovely effort. Jamal managed to pull off a fantastic save as he parried away Behailu’s rebound. Samuel Saliso failed to pull one back when his free kick sailed over the bar.
The win leaves Kidus Giorgis four points clear of second placed Dedebit and making them the half season champions whilst Mekelakeya occupies 8th with 16 points.
