Hawassa Ketema saw off title contenders Kidus Giorgis in game played at Hawassa. Firdawek Sisay broke the deadlock nine minutes after the second half kicked off. Giorgis captain Degu Debebe equalized through a header. Nonetheless, winger Asechalew Girma headed home in the stoppage time to clinch a surprising victory for Hawassa.
Sidama Bunna were held to a 1-1 draw against Dashen Bira. Kenyan striker Erick Muranda struck in the sixth minute as he capitalizes on the opponent’s defensive howler. Yetesha Gizaw restored parity for the visitors in the 37th minute to salvage a point for the Northerners.
The result leaves Kidus Giorgis in the top spot with 2 games in hand. Meanwhile, Hawassa Ketema manage to reach seventh. Sidama Bunna occupies fourth with 19 points. Dashen Bira still languish one point ahead of the relegation zone.
