Gabon 2017: Seven Star Algeria Trashed Ethiopia 

Ethiopia took a huge hammering at the hands of one of Africa’s football powerhouse, Algeria, 7-1 in Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in Blida.

The hosts were in firm control of the game leaving absolutely no breathing space for the Walias.

Spain based midfielder Sofiane Fegueli broke the deadlock 23 minutes to the game as his goal bound shot deflected in by Asechalew Tamene. Islam Slimani doubled the lead in the 31st minute through a fine finish. Yacine Brahimi missed a spot kick instantly after Slimani’s goal after right side back Alula Girma brought down Slimani.

Feghouli completed his brace after the recess capitalizing on the Walias defensive blunder.

Brahimi ultimately got a goal in the 72nd minute whilst Saphir Taider scored a fantastic volley after a receiving pass from the dazzling Riyad Mahrez. Second half substitue Rachid Ghezzal struck for the sixth as Slimani grabbed his second in the dying moments of the game.

Getaneh Kebede got the conciliation for Ethiopia five from time.

The win leaves Algeria at the summit of the Group J. Ethiopia are second, five points shy of the North Africans.

In the group’s other game Seychelles hosts bottom side Lesotho, who are chasing their first win of the qualifiers. The Walias entertain Les Fennecs in the return leg on the coming Tuesday Match 29 in Addis Ababa.
