Premier League : Kidus Giorgis held by Adama Ketema as Wolaitta Dicha beat Dedebit 

Adama Ketema held league leaders Kidus Giorgis to a one all draw in Addis Ababa as Wolaitta Dicha came out victorious against Dedebit. Hawassa Ketema triumphed over Sidama Bunna in Sidama Derby while Diredawa Ketema edge Dashen Bira at home. Mekelakeya cruised past Electric 2-0. Meanwhile, rock bottom side Hadiya Hossana and ArbaMinch Ketema share spoils.

Third placed Adama Ketema and league leaders Kidus Giorgis settled for a draw. The visitors took the lead in the 37th minute through Chala Driba’s well excuted header. The Horsemen instantly replied back when Ramkel Lok restore parity two minutes later. Security forces had to intervene during the game after opposing Giorgis and Adama fans in Katanga and Mismar Tera came to blows in the stadium. Brawl broke out between fans of the both sides. Fans were seen throwing objects and stones while security forces had a problem to contain the fighting. 21 people were injured in the process as well as there has been substantial property damage.

Dawit Estifanos inspired Diredawa Ketema on their win over relegation battlers Dashen Bira. Yordanos Abay scored on his debut to give the Easterners the lead. Dawit doubled the lead in the 65th minutes as Togolese Edom Hosrouvi pulled one back for the Gondar club. Dawit sealed the win when he slots home in the 74th minute.

Mekelakeya effectively doomed Electric in a game played out in Addis. Firew Solomon and Maraki Worku struck after the recess to hand the Army side an important three points.

The Sidama Derby between Sidama Bunna and Hawassa Ketema sees Hawassa coming out victorious. Firdaweke Sisay broke the dead lock in the 22nd minute. Veteran striker Andualem Nigusse leveled matters in the 27th minute. Nonetheless, Girma Bekele found the back of the net in the second half.

Hadiya Hossana and ArbaMinch Ketema share spoils as they settled for a 1-1 draw. Binima Gemchu gave the Hadiya side the lead but Teshome Tadesse struck four minutes from time to tie the score. Hadiya Hossana are winless after they trounced Wolaitta Dicha 5-1 in the first round.

Wolaitta Dicha managed to close the gap with the top 3 teams with a much needed win over second placed Dedebit. Tsegaye Birhanu’s solitary goal was enough for Mesay Teferi’s side to collect the vital three points.

Despite the draw Kidus Giorgis are still at the top of the log table with 30 points whilst the defeat leaves Dedebit second with 25 points. Adama Ketema occupies third after collecting 24 points. Wolaitta Dicha are fourth, two points shy of Dedebit. Hadiya Hossana and Dashen Bira are in the relegation zone with 6 and 13 points respectively.
