The Sheger Derby between bitter rivals Kidus Giorgis and Ethiopia Bunna ended in a barren draw whilst Adama Ketema scraped a 1-0 victory over struggling ArbaMinch Ketema. Hadiya Hossana further dropped to the relegation zone after they lost 2-0 to Diredawa Ketema. Wolaitta Dicha and Sidama Bunna settled their duel in stalemate.
Sheger Derby, for the second time running, ended in goalless draw. Kidus Giorgis created numerous goals scoring chances during the tie while Ethiopia Bunna dominated in the second half. Bunna were toothless upfront after their top goal poacher Yabeun William sustained injury.
Veteran striker Tafesse Tesfaye’s strike proved enough for Adama Ketema to beat ArbaMinch Ketema. Tafesse now has 11 league goals this season as he continues to lead the top goal scoring chart.
Diredawa Ketema continued on their impressive form with a win over bottom side Hadiya Hossana. Belay Abayneh struck in the first half to hand the Easterners the lead. Former Minnesota Stars striker Fuad Ibrahim, who joined on the January transfer window, sealed the win with a superb finish in the second half. It is Fuad’s, 24, first ever goal in the Premier League.
Hadiya Hossana missed on an opportunity to pull one back when Temesgen Gebretsadik failed to convert a spot kick.
Sidama Bunna held Wolaitta Dicha in Boditi. Dicha drew their last 4 successive league games.
Two remaining week 18 games will be played on Monday in Addis as Ethiopia Nigd Bank takes on Hawassa Ketema and Mekelakeya entertains Dashen Bira.
