Electric came from behind to beat Dashen, Adama Ketema in Big Win

Week 20 of the Ethiopian Premier League started today with three games in Addis Ababa and Adama.

Mekelakeya pip Sidama Bunna 1-0. Baye Gezaghen’s struck at stroke half time to hand the Army side a much needed three points. The duel faced off Walias coach Gebremedin Haile with his assistant Zelalem Shiferaw as the former emerged victories.

Adama Ketema were the big winners of the day with their 3-0 thrashing of Hawassa at home. In a game that saw a lot of controversies, Adama secured the three points. Mikael George opened the scoring in the ninth minute. Adama’s captain Souliman Mohammed doubled the lead when his cross out of nowhere finds the back of the net after Tebego’s howler. Fasika Asafaw headed home six minutes from time to wrap up the game.

Addis outfit Electric came from behind to beat Dashen Bira 3-1. The Gondar club took an early lead through ex Electric player Asrat Megeressa. Nigerian striker Peter Nuwadke equalized through a superb free kick in the 39th minute. Fitsum Geberemariam gave Electric the lead after the recess. Midfielder Addis Negash crashed any hope Dashen to get back to the game in the stoppage time.

Adama Ketema for the time being reclaimed second spot from Ethiopia Bunna. Meanwhile, Hawassa Ketema occupies seventh with 27 points. Mekelakeya and Sidama Bunna sit 9th and 10th respectively. The win over Dashen gave Electric a chance to go out of the drop zone. Dashen Bira are 11th with 22 points.

Remaining week 20 fixtures will continue on Wednesday as Dedebit host league leaders Kidus Giorgis in Addis. Ethiopia Bunna are at home against relegation battlers ArbaMinch Ketema. Ethiopia Nigd Bank entertains Diredawa Ketema in Addis. In Boditi, Wolaitta Dicha and bottom side Hadiya Hossana lock horns.
