Kidus Giorgis bound Micho in a dreamland

Kidus Giorgis bound Milutin Sredojević (Micho) has been unveiled as the new Zamalek SC manager. Micho who had two successful spells with the Serial Ethiopian premier league champions was the favorite to be at the Helm of Kidus Giorgis (Saint George) as the club is currently without a head coach after the departure of the Englishmen John Stewart Hall last May.

Micho who parted ways with South African side Orlando Pirates last Friday was speculated to be on his way to Ethiopia but he put pen-to-paper on a one-year deal with the Egypt giants Zamalek SC.

After his appointment, Micho was quoted “today I can say that my dream has come true after taking charge of Zamalek. I want to work hard to achieve the fans goals”

Micho will have a tough times waiting ahead , if results don’t favor him as soon as possible he may end up losing his “Dream job” in few months’ time, as the clubs president Mortada Mansour is not afraid of firing coaches, the impatient former lawyer has sacked 15 coaches in his 5 years spell at the “White Knights”.

Zamalek Sc who finished second 8 points adrift from arch-rivals Al Ahly SC in the premier league are expected to close the gap with city rivals and reclaim the league title after 2014/15 and It is also being reported that Ex-Zamalek players Ayman Abdel-Aziz and Ahmed Abdel-Raouf were named as an acting assistant coach for Micho.

Haras El-Hodood SC complete signing of Gatoch Panom

Ethiopian international Gatoch Panom who prematurely ended his contract with Egypt premier side El-Gouna last Thursday agreed to join fellow Egypt top tier side Haras El-Hodood SC in the undisclosed fee.

Gatoch Panom joined the then newly promoted Egyptian premier league side in the summer of 2018 had a successful spell with El-Gouna and is expected to be an instrumental member of his new side.

Haras El-Hodood SC finished last season residing 15th with 38 points level on points but behind his former employees El Gouna with only goal difference.

Mekelakeya back to business

Mekelakeya has captured the signature of ex Bahir Dar ketema player, the promising goalkeeper Mintesnot Alo a one year deal.

Bahir Dar’s hottest property Mintesnot Alo was being linked with a big-money move away from Northern Ethiopia side, preferred Mekelakeya over other clubs including Ethiopia Bunna.

After a fantastic spell in last edition of Addis Ababa city cup where visitant Bahir Dar Ketema finished runners up to Ethiopia Bunna where Mintesnot was a standout performer in the team, he then went on to play few games in the premier league with the Benin international Hariston Hessou at this disposal, since then he featured twice for the senior Ethiopian national side.

Didier Gomes is set to visit Ethiopia

Didier Gomes who was in charge of Ethiopia Bunna till Mid-season and is currently the Head coach of the Guinean Champions AC Haroya will be visiting Ethiopia this week, The visit came as no surprise to many, Gomes in an exclusive interview with Soccer Ethiopia days after his AC Haroya appointment disclosed that his intention of recruiting Ethiopian players to AC Horoya.

As Soccer Ethiopia understand Gomes will be attending Ethiopia Vs Lesotho on September the 4th at the Bahirdar international stadium and is expected to have a meeting with two yet unknown midfielders from Ethiopia in the coming days.

Didier Gomes who showed a glimpse of what he is made of in his first season with Ethiopia Bunna but his second season with the club was totally fatal after their promising start to the season the club went out to lose 4 consecutive matches leading him to be sacked from Ethiopia Bunna.

The center-back Bereket Woldeyohannes and the winger Meskelu Letebo decided to return to their former club after a very promising year with Arbaminch Ketema, the versatile right-back, and winger Surafel Daniel also on his way to Hadiya Hossana from Adama.

Additionally, the club announced that they have extended the contracts of 9 senior players including their skipper Tigistu Abera, Yosef Dengeto, and Eyuel Samuel.

The Tigers, who are back to the Premier League for the second time after 2015/16, in their first attempt they failed to tackle the hurdle and were relegated from the league in their maiden year.

Yidnekachew Kidane depart from Mekelakeya

The Veteran goalie Yidnekachew Kidane who began his football career with Ethiopia Bunna and then moved to Mekelakeya where he was in between the posts for the club for the past 10 years.

In the past 2 seasons, he was struggling to regularly feature in the team’s starting 11 following the arrival of the Abel Mamo from Mugher Cement, Yidnekachew Kidane will also again face a stiff challenge for the Number 1 spot with Bilinge Enoh at the southern Ethiopia Side.

Following Yidnekachew’s acquisition, Wolkite Ketema tally for new summer recruits reached 11.

Former Kidus Giorgis midfielder is back to professional Football

Former Kidus Giorgis Midfilder Abdoul Karim Zoko who was a free agent for the past year has joined Armenian side FC Gandzasar Kapan.

The Burkinabe international had a very successful one year spell with the Horsemen were he was able to take many fans heart by storm but a change in the clubs head coach post led him to depart from the club. he made his debut for his new side as his side went to a 1 all draw with Lori. His new club is currently ranked 8th in the Armenian league with 2 points from the possible 9.

Asrat Abate land Butajira Job

Asrat Abate is the new head coach of Butajira Kenema. The former Addis Ababa Ketema and Bishoftu Ketema trainer has a huge task of building a competitive team which in the past two seasons evaded relegation from the Higher league in the last few weeks.
