Ethiopia Bunna Pip Mekelakeya as Woldia, Welwalo Held at Home

In week 3 of the Ethiopian Premier League, a late goal rescued Ethiopia Bunna to take home maximum points while Woldia and Dire Dawa Ketema settled for a goalless stalemate. Elsewhere Welwalo Adigrat University and Sidama Bunna played out a barren draw.
Ethiopia Bunna made a perfect start to the 2017/18 season with a narrow win over Mekelakeya in a game played out in Addis Ababa Stadium. The army side continued on their worst start of the season as they succumbed to Ethiopia Bunna in round 3 of the top flight league. Minyelu Wendimu came almost close to hand Mekelakeya the lead in the 36th minute but his effort from range was well saved by Hariston Hessou. A minute later Samuel Sanumi rattled the cross bar.

Both sides have opportunities to score goals but it was Bunna who slotted home 6 minutes before time. Sanumi finished off an Iyassu Tamiru’s square pass to hand Ethiopia Bunna precious maximum points. Bunna’s newly appointed Serbian coach Kostadin Papic started off his coaching career in Ethiopia with a maiden win.

In other games, Sidama Bunna hold Welwalo Adigrat University in Adigrat whilst Woldia failed to bounce back from their 4-1 trashing at the hands of Hawassa Ketema as they were held to a barren draw against a very defensive Dire Dawa Ketema side.

Wolaitta Dicha still leads the league with 4 points from two games.
