Electric Ended their Winless streak as all league leaders drop points

Ethiopian Premier League round 11 games were played on the weekends across the country as Ethiopia Bunna, Ethio-Electric, Ethiopia Nigd Bank and Sidama Bunna collected maximum points after winning their respective ties. Log leaders Adama Ketema dropped points and handed Kidus Giorgis the top spot. Both Dedebit and Fasil Ketema have also dropped points.

Strugglers Ethio-Electric ultimately broke the hoodoo when they pip Wolaitta Dicha 2-1 in Addis Ababa Stadium on Sunday. Addis Negash converted a spot kick to hand Electric the lead 3 minutes following the resumption before Fitsum Gebremariam struck the second in the 75th minute. Mesay Anchiso pulled one back for the Sodo club but the tie elapsed 2-1 in favor of Ethio-Electric. Wolaitta Dicha have never beaten Ethio-Electric since they gain promotion to the premier league 3 seasons ago.

Ethiopia Bunna came out of Jimma with three valuable points as they flatten Jimma Aba Bunna 1-0 in the first premier encounter of the clubs. Winger Asechalew Girma scored the winner in the second half as Bunna won two matches in a row for the first time in 2016/17 season.

Peter Nuwadke and Fikreeysus Tekelbirhan gave Ethiopia Nigd Bank a win over Adama Ketema and sent the log leaders to a shock 2-0 defeat. Sidama Bunna recorded the first away win of the season with a 1-0 victory over bottom side Addis Ababa Ketema. Girum Assefa struck the lone goal four minutes before the first interval ended.

Kidus Giorgis reinstated back as the league leaders even with an away draw at Hawassa. Hawassa Ketema and Kidus Giorgis shared spoils in a crunch duel. Winger Gadissa Mebrate gave the two times Premier League champions an early lead. Ramkel Lok restored parity in the second half for the reigning champions. Kidus Giorgis remain winless in their last three trips to Hawassa.

The much anticipated encounter of the week in ArbaMinch between ArbaMinch Ketema and Fasil Ketema ended in a barren draw. Woldia and Dire Dawa Ketema played in Mahammad Hussien Ali Al-Amoudi Stadium, which was inaugurated on Saturday, but elapsed their tie in goalless stalemate. The game between Dedebit and Mekelakeya has also ended in a disappointing draw.

Kidus Giorgis sits at the summit of the log table with 21 points, same as Adama Ketema but superior in goal difference. Dedebit are third one point adrift. Fail Ketema, with a game in hand, occupies fourth with 19 points. Back to back wins elevated Ethiopia Bunna to 8th in the table with 16 points. Ethio-Electric are tabled at 12 with 10 points. Jimma Aba Bunna, Hawassa Ketema and Addis Ababa Ketema are languishing in the drop zone.
